Art Bandhani Sarees
A Bandhani saree, also known as Bandhej saree, is a traditional Indian attire distinguished by its unique tie-dyeing technique. Originating from the regions of Gujarat and Rajasthan, these sarees are renowned for their vibrant colors, detailed patterns, and the meticulous process used to create them.
The term "Bandhani" is derived from the Sanskrit word called "bandh", which means "to tie". In the making of a Bandhani saree, small portions of the fabric are tied tightly with threads at various points, creating distinctive patterns and designs. The tied fabric is then dyed in multiple colors, and once the dyeing is complete, the tied portions are untied to reveal the untouched areas of the fabric, resulting in detailed, dot-like patterns.
